Shoes

Where in life have your shoes taken you,

What have you always loved to do,

What mountains have your shoes scaled,

have they scuffed dirt when a dream has failed

What bridges have they crossed,

What wars have they won when the battle has been lost,

Have they taken a stand even when they know the cost

Have they danced around a ballroom with your sweetheart,

Or maybe run a marathon after a shaky start,

Which shoes have been your favorite ones along the way,

do you wish you’d worn a different pair for just a day,

I think about your shoes as we slip them on your feet,

they helped create the you sitting in this seat.
