People often say you’re crazy to think one person can make a difference. I have always believed that one person can change the world….even if it is just for one person at a time.

In 2008 after three of the most devastating years of my life I decided I wanted to change my world. I started a project to help others. I started small with thank you letters, being kinder, more patient and looking for ways to serve those around me. I am going to help provide health care to the poor, sick and needy.  I created the NICE (Necessary Interventions for Continued Existence) program for those in need. We take soup, blankets, handwarmers, personal first aid kits, water and other necessities to homeless individuals (previously in the Greater Toronto Area and Peel Region now relocated to the London Ontario area). We focus a great deal on helping youth and others with mental illness, depression and those in need.

It is possible to change a life.  All it takes is one person to be the leader in making a change. One person can change everything.  I want to see change in the Healthcare world. I will spend my life fighting for those who need more compassion, understanding, someone to listen. We can fix healthcare in Canada if we concentrate more on the care aspect of Healthcare. Patients need to be listened to before they have medical problems caused by stress, loneliness and feeling unheard.

I am a greater agent of change with each and every day. I love caring for patients in my full-time job and caring for others while doing outreach. I LOVE MY LIFE…if you knew me 5 years ago you would be shocked to hear I feel that way…Dreams do come true. My greatest blessing in life is my 18 year old daughter who has been my inspiration and driving force in changing my life to be able to be an example of how anything is possible no matter what life throws at you.

I have returned to college to work towards my nursing degree. I love providing care to the elderly and life skills to teens. I get to change my life and the world for those I visit.  I have gone from a depressed stand up comedian with no feeling of self worth to a woman with a purpose and a mission and a belief that we are here to learn compassion. Helping others does wonders for helping yourself. There is joy in kindness…even if just in a small way…We could all do something to make someone’s day and sometimes that is all it takes to change their world. If we all pay it forward we can make the world a kinder, gentler and more loving place. I am blessed to work with others who believe that too.

I have volunteered or worked with youth in one capacity or another for more than 20 years having taught self esteem workshops, music, comedy and improvisation workshops and life skills programs.

Youth are crying out for help. They need our time, encouragement, support and love. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in Canada for young people and fourth leading cause of death worldwide. I want to change that. I want to help every youth I possibly can know their true potential. Once a person realizes their potential for good they are unstoppable.

I am going to blog my way through my journey and eventually write a book on my journey as a crazy lady on a crazy mission to change the world one person at a time!

    Hello there,

It’s nice to have stumbled upon another blogger who has such compassion for others and for the world. I love your very positive attitude.

I’d like to think that I’m also doing the same thing, trying to do simple things that can somehow make some lives better. In my part of the world where poverty and lack of education is prevalent, I am trying, in my own little ways, to inspire young children to persevere in school and to continue studying to a project called Pens of Hope.
